- 24 Piece Mini Screwdriver Set
Most precision screwdriver sets come with one handle and a bunch of tiny bits. I prefer a set of complete screwdrivers, but they have become more difficult to find. After spending way too much time searching on Amazon I finally found these.
They come in a case that has a spot for every component and closes to keep everything in place.
Included in the kit are 6 flathead, 6 Phillips, and 9 torx screwdrivers; as well as straight and curved tweezers and a magnetizer/demagnetizer.
The screwdrivers are small, which makes them perfect as part of my travel kit for DEW, in fact they are technically short enough to carry through TSA, which I have accidentally done on a few occasions. These are not super fancy German screwdrivers, but at $12 on Amazon they are an incredible deal.
- Goo Gone Adhesive Remover
I seriously love this stuff. It is my first go to to remove stickers, adhesive, grime, or anything stuck on something it shouldn’t be. It is super gentle, so if the adhesive is dried out spray some on and let it soak in. Plus it smells good!
- ZTS Inc. MBT-1 Multi-Battery Tester
This battery tester will test almost any battery that you come across. Some batteries will test good on a volt meter, but when you actually use them are dead. This meter puts the battery under load, getting a much more accurate reading of remaining capacity.
ZTS also makes a Mini version of this tester that tests the five most common styles of batteries, I chose to go with the larger version that test thirteen different styles of batteries.
- wisTek LCR Meter
This LCR (inductance, capacitance, resistance) meter will test a component and tell you what it is, as well as some of the specifications for that component. It will tell you the pinout for diodes, transistors and many other components. One neat additional feature is that it will check IR remotes, actually telling you the code that the remote sends.
It is powered by an internal battery that charges with a micro USB cable, which is included in the package. Three probe wires are also included for attaching to components that won’t fit in the ZIF socket. There are several different variations of this meter available on the internet, but this is the one I chose to spend my money on.
